Who we are

Founded in 2022 in South Florida

OCAPEX is a nonprofit music organization led by students, devoted to spreading the joy of music. Our committed musicians, ages 6 to 20, bring lively performances and music education to elderly care homes, rehabilitation centers, and underprivileged communities, using music to spread happiness, inspire, create meaningful impact, and connect people of all ages.

What began in 2022 as a small group of student performers visiting a single senior living community has grown into a program that runs throughout the year, with dozens of active volunteers and more than two dozen community partners across South Florida. Every performance is planned, rehearsed, and led entirely by our student members.

What OCAPEX stands for
Opportunity • Compassion • Action • Purpose • Empowerment • Xperience

Through these defining values, OCAPEX aims to expand access to musical opportunities, foster a generation of compassionate leaders, create lasting impact through service, empower young performers to spread joy through their craft, and provide impactful experiences for both performers and audiences. These aren’t just words on a page: they shape which communities we visit, how we train new members, and how we measure whether a visit succeeded.
